Job description

Staff Simulation Software Engineer – Melbourne, Florida

Location: Melbourne, Florida (onsite)

Relocation Assistance: May be available

Clearance required: Yes; Clearance type: Secret; Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate and test software for end‑user customers and businesses.
  • Responsible for design, architecture, application development, and flight simulation.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps, and Systems Test teams in an Agile environment.
  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve issues with program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to customers.
  • Architect and develop applications in a simulated training environment.
  • Serve on Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related engineering experience, or
  • Master’s degree in STEM with 10 years of related engineering experience, or
  • Ph.D. in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) – design, requirements, application development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Proficiency in at least one of C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with at least two of: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, Gitlab, Ansible, Fortify, or Coverity.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret or higher clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of C and C++ language concepts including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker behavior.
  • Experience with Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or High-Level Architecture (HLA).
  • Experience with Full‑Motion Flight Training Systems.
  • Experience with simulated threat environments such as AFSIM or NGTS.
  • Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow sharing of company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
