Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Principal Simulation Software Engineer in Melbourne, FL.
This role focuses on designing, developing, integrating, and testing software for end‑user customers and business solutions, specifically in architecture, application development, and flight simulation.

Security & Travel
Security clearance required: Secret. Clearance must be obtained before employment. Special Access Program (SAP) clearance must be obtained prior to commencement of employment. Travel: required approximately 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to customers.
- Architect and develop embedded mission systems software applications on a real‑time operating system.
- Work in an innovative environment on diverse assignments and collaborate with teams across systems engineering, cloud & application, test automation, DevSecOps, and systems test.
- Be part of Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience, or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
- Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): design, requirements, application development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following programming or scripting languages: C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with at least two of the following tools: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, Gitlab, Sonarqube, Fortify, or Coverity.
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of C and C++ including templates, memory management, and compiler/linker operations.
- Experience or knowledge of Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), or High‑Level Architecture (HLA).
- Experience with Full‑Motion Flight Training Systems.
- Experience with simulated threat environments such as AFSIM or NGTS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment concepts and tools such as Gitlab, Bamboo, or Jenkins.
- Ability to collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers to develop and maintain complex software systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.

Salary
Primary level salary range: $98,400.00 to $147,600.00. Base pay may be supplemented by overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for eligible management levels.
