Description

Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives. They oversee all aspects of operations at the site. Additional responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring to meet performance objectives, building positive employee relations, and developing leadership within the Fulfillment Center.

Responsibilities
  1. Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and the FC to meet and exceed business plans.
  2. Ensure overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience of inbound or outbound operations.
  3. Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold managers accountable.
  4. Leverage ideas from Operations and Area Managers, and incorporate them into improvement plans.
  5. Share best practices across departments, shifts, and networks.
  6. Collaborate with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, other Sr. Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
  • Perform bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching activities.
  • Walk frequently in the FC, covering over a quarter mile in length.
  • Stand and walk an average of 5 miles daily.
  • Work in environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air-conditioned.
  • Access all areas of the building safely, including ladders and stairs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience.
  • 7+ years of management experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
  • Experience with staffing lifecycle processes including hiring, performance management, and termination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience managing a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle stressful situations.
  • Interest in long-term career development across multiple FCs nationwide.
