Job summary

Entergy is seeking a Sr Mgr, Power Plant in Louisiana to lead operations at our power facility. You will ensure safe, compliant production and drive reliability, efficiency, and financial performance while managing a technical team.

The role requires overseeing plant staff, coordinating with support groups, and developing personnel while maintaining relationships with partners. Travel is up to 25% and the position is onsite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with prior supervisory/management experience in a plant environment.
  • Experience operating and overseeing super-critical power plants.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe production within regulatory and environmental permits, NERC, Sarbanes‑Oxley, RTO rules and company policies.
  • Monitor operations for safety and efficiency; inspect plants and equipment for abnormalities.
  • Own plant performance; set priorities, allocate resources, and adapt plans to meet service challenges.
  • Resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems; monitor KPIs and close gaps.
  • Lead plant staff and coordinate with support groups; manage training and development.
  • Build relationships with internal and external interfaces and key partners.
  • Establish a performance-driven culture with frequent employee engagement.
  • Prepare and manage plant budgets; maximize asset utilization and monitor performance.

Job Summary / Purpose

Manages and oversees the operations of a power plant. Responsible for operational reliability, safety, compliance, and financial performance. Ensures the plant is prepared to meet system load requirements and proactively monitors operations for efficiency and safety while ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements are followed. Leads and directs the work of others, oversees technical staff, hires, trains, and develops personnel, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe production environment that operates within all applicable regulatory compliance requirements, including environmental permits, NERC reliability standards, Sarbanes‑Oxley processes, RTO requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor operations for safety and efficiency, conduct field inspections of plants, stations, or substations, and identify abnormalities with power production equipment or processes.
  • Own all operations and performance of the plant; set priorities, allocate resources, and adapt plans to meet service and operational challenges.
  • Resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems, monitoring performance through KPIs and taking action to close gaps.
  • Leads plant staff and coordinates with business unit support groups; manages operations and maintenance employees and ensures proper training.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external interfaces and key strategic partners.
  • Establish and maintain a performance‑driven culture with frequent employee engagement.
  • Ensure the plant is ready to meet system load requirements and work with system planning to maximize production.
  • Prepare and manage plant budgets, ensuring maximum asset utilization and continuous monitoring of performance against financial and operational goals.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience with prior supervisory/management experience, preferably in a plant environment.
  • In‑depth experience operating and overseeing super‑critical power plants.
  • Knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance, key drivers for safe, reliable, cost‑effective, and compliant operation.
  • Project management experience with excellent leadership skills.
Preferred
  • Regulatory knowledge (OSHA, NERC, FERC, environmental, etc.) associated with plant operation.
  • Financial management skills and ability to develop and manage a budget.
  • Business acumen and industry knowledge, including understanding of utility revenue models.
  • Experience operating in an ISO, RTO, or similar market structure.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, prioritize competing issues, and recognize constraints and opportunities.
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • People‑management skills, coaching, and employee accountability.
  • Willingness to explore alternative approaches, drive change, and lead change‑management initiatives.
Travel

Travel within New Orleans and surrounding areas; up to 25% travel.

Working Conditions

As a provider of essential services, employees may be required to work additional hours, alternate locations, or perform additional duties during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not receive overtime pay for such duties.
