Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Sr. Medical Technologist for the Automated Lab to oversee the evening shift.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, MT-ASCP, and 5+ years of generalist laboratory experience across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis with teaching responsibilities and a focus on inspection readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a generalist laboratory role across Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis.
• MT-ASCP certification required.

Responsibilities

Join a team where your expertise drives diagnosis, innovation, and teaching. You would be responsible for oversight of operations on the evening shift in the Automated Lab.

What you will do:

• Performs a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients according to established standards: maintains and/or calibrates scientific equipment.
• Provides teaching and education to lab students and other personnel.
• Responsible for maintaining inspection readiness at all times.

Position Hours:

• 40 hours, Evening Shift, every other weekend; rotating holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology
• Must have a minimum of 5 years experience; Must have an understanding of all laboratory sections as a generalist that may include: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, immunology, and urinalysis. Knowledge of specimen processing, specimen handling and phlebotomy are needed.
• MT-ASCP
• Exhibits strong interpersonal skill; technically competent. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices. Adaptability and flexibility necessary for work schedule and patient care requirements. Good command of the English language and medical terminology
• Must be able to cover alternate shifts (for call-offs, sicknesses, emergencies, other situations) and weekends and holidays as needed.

Pay Range: $33.10 - $52.95 per hour

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
