Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Automated Lab Team. You will perform and report a wide range of analyses, ensuring accurate results that impact patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role includes 40 hours with Day Shift and weekend rotation, with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth. Minimum qualifications include a BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology, and MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP

Qualifications

• Performs and reports routine and complex analyses across lab sections.
• Calibrates analyzers and maintains equipment to prevent faults.
• Maintains equipment inventories and assists with repairs when needed.
• New grads welcome; MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP eligible within first year.

As a key member of our clinical laboratory, you will perform and report a wide range of routine and highly complex analyses across multiple lab sections—directly impacting patient diagnosis, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes.

What you will do:

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.

• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures

• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Position Hours:

• 40 hours, Day Shift, rotating wknds/holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology

• MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP. Or must be eligible to take Certification exam and achieve certification within the first year of employment.
