Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT invites applications for a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist position in the evening shift. You will perform a wide range of analyses across multiple lab sections, directly impacting patient diagnosis and treatment.

Minimum requirements include a BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology, MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP certification (or eligibility within the first year). New grads welcomed, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology required.
• MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP certification, or eligibility to sit for the exam within first year.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopic techniques.
• Ensures operation of analyzers and laboratory equipment by calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory management.

As a key member of our clinical laboratory, you will perform and report a wide range of routine and highly complex analyses across multiple lab sections—directly impacting patient diagnosis, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes.

What you will do:

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.

• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures

• Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Position Hours:

• 40 hours, Evening Shift, rotating wknds/holidays

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Medical Technology or AS in Medical Lab Technology

• MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP. Or must be eligible to take Certification exam and achieve certification within the first year of employment.
