Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in the United States is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the F135 Fan design team across the design cycle. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability of fan components and systems.

The role involves design support through preliminary to detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and service, with emphasis on improving efficiency, cost effectiveness, and program success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of design experience.
• Advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support the design cycle for F135 Fan components with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide design support from preliminary to detailed design, validation, and manufacturing.
• Work on fan module components: cases, frames, IBRs, bypass ducts, kinematics.
• Optimize components for reliability, maintainability, and commonality for military/MRO needs.
• Develop procedures to improve efficiency and quality; review layouts and cost studies.
• Collaborate with engineers to coordinate interrelated designs; mentor junior staff.
