Job description

Omnicell is seeking an experienced and hands-on Sr. Manager of Software Engineering to lead our development team in creating innovative healthcare technology solutions. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development of pharmacy systems to ensure that our software development efforts meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of the healthcare industry to drive our software initiatives forward. They will also be a team player that collaborates effectively across the organizations to ensure high quality solutions delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of globally distributed software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with product management, operations, and other stakeholders to define and implement software solutions that meet the needs of healthcare providers
  • Collaborate with Hardware Engineering to deliver high-quality HW/SW systems
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to deployment and maintenance
  • Lead the team to deliver in an Agile development environment, coaching Agile best practices and ensuring regular delivery of value to our customers
  • Actively participate in hands-on development tasks, including coding, debugging, and troubleshooting both new applications and legacy systems
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and documentation
  • Understand business urgency and can find appropriate and timely solutions and uses independent judgement to accomplish objectives.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to deliver high-quality software on schedule
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in healthcare IT
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proven track record of managing/guiding software development teams and projects
  • Strong technical skills in the following areas:
    • C# programming language
    • .NET framework and .NET Core
    • Experience developing and deploying applications at the edge
    • Experience with public cloud development and deployment
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies
  • Extensive experience in healthcare IT, including familiarity with healthcare systems, workflows, and regulations
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of collaborating across business departments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience; or
    • Associate degree in a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role
  • 5+ years of experience in C# programming language and .Net framework
  • 3+ years of experience in Angular 6 or above
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with pharmacy information systems or medication management technologies
  • Familiarity with Omnicell products and solutions
  • Experience migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with low power/lightweight edge appliances
Work Conditions
  • Onshore / Remote
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
