POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering oversees the design and development of software applications. This role manages software engineers and leads large software projects. It has full responsibility for some components of Natera's software stack, including LIMS/LabVantage. Preference is given to candidates able to commute to Austin or San Carlos as needed to collaborate with Lab Operations teams and Labs, but the position is ultimately remote.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serve as a domain expert for projects implemented in LabVantage for your designated Business Unit(s).
  2. Manage a team of software engineers and quality engineers.
  3. Lead large development projects and coordinate a cross-functional team including developers, QA, and product managers.
  4. Oversee project timelines and resource allocation.
  5. Contribute to software architecture, development, and code reviews.
  6. Improve engineering development processes.
  7. Work with PHI data regularly, utilizing various technologies to access both paper and electronic forms, to perform job duties.
  8. Complete mandatory training on HIPAA/PHI privacy, policies, procedures, and security within the first 30 days of hire.
  9. Maintain current status on Natera training requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar managerial role.
  • Over 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience managing teams of employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience building scalable systems.
  • Ability to manage technical teams using tools such as Java, Groovy, Kafka, REST, and LabVantage.
  • Experience developing LIMS software for processing laboratory-developed tests.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.

The listed pay range is $140,100—$175,100 USD, with actual compensation based on various factors including experience, skills, certifications, and location. Compensation may vary by location due to labor costs.
