Job summary

Floor & Decor is seeking a Sr. Manager, eCommerce Technology to lead multiple engineering pods focused on scalable digital systems. You will translate technology strategy into staffed teams, ensure delivery on roadmap commitments, and partner with the Sr.

Director to align staffing, delivery plans and technical direction. A strong full-stack background (React/Java) and experience with large ecommerce platforms are required.

Job description

Purpose The Sr. Manager, eCommerce Technology, leads the eCommerce Engineers responsible for building and delivering Floor and Decor's digital systems. This role owns the day-to-day leadership of the eCommerce engineering organization — translating the Sr. Director’s technology strategy into staffed, well-run engineering pods that consistently deliver on roadmap commitments. The Sr. Manager partners closely with the Sr. Director, eCommerce Technology and the eCommerce Architect to align staffing, delivery plans, and technical direction, while building a high-performing, full-stack engineering organization grounded in React, Java, and large-scale commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or WebSphere Commerce. This leader also champions modern engineering practices — including the responsible use of AI-assisted ("vibe coding") development tools — to raise team velocity and quality across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8-12 years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years directly managing engineering leads or senior engineers
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams or pods simultaneously, ideally within an eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital environment
• Strong full-stack technical background across React and Java, sufficient to evaluate technical trade-offs and support engineering leads in technical decision-making
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale eCommerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce, or a comparable enterprise platform
• Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing engineering talent

Preferred

• Experience scaling an eCommerce or digital commerce engineering organization through growth or modernization initiatives
• Experience managing budgets, staffing plans, and vendor/contractor relationships for an engineering organization
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum at scale (e.g., SAFe) and experience running program management practices across multiple teams
• Practical experience championing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) across an engineering organization
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

Org & People Leadership

• Directly manage eCommerce Engineers, providing coaching, performance management, and career development
• Own workforce planning for the eCommerce engineering organization, partnering with Talent Acquisition to hire and scale teams in line with business growth
• Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across engineering pods

Delivery & Program Execution

• Own end-to-end delivery execution across multiple engineering pods, ensuring roadmap commitments are met on time and within budget
• Establish and mature program management practices, including capacity planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation across teams
• Serve as an escalation point for cross-team delivery risks, resourcing conflicts, and significant production issues

Technical & Architectural Alignment

• Partner with the eCommerce Architect to ensure engineering pods execute against approved architecture, technical standards, and platform roadmaps
• Maintain enough hands‑on technical fluency across React, Java, and the core commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce) to evaluate trade-offs and support Lead Engineers in technical decision‑making
• Champion adoption of AI-assisted development practices and other modern engineering tooling across the organization

Budget & Vendor Management

• Own budget stewardship for the eCommerce engineering organization, including staffing, tooling, and vendor/contractor spend
• Manage relationships with staffing partners, contractors, and technology vendors supporting the eCommerce engineering team
• Track and report on team capacity, spend, and delivery metrics to the Sr. Director, eCommerce Technology

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with Product, Design, QA, and Program Management leadership to align engineering capacity with roadmap priorities
• Communicate delivery status, risks, and organizational health clearly to the Sr. Director, eCommerce Technology and other senior stakeholders
• Represent the eCommerce engineering organization in cross-functional planning and prioritization forums

Travel Required

• Yes – Up to 10%

Occasional travel to vendor sites, industry conferences, or other Floor & Decor locations may be required.
