You will guide front-end and back-end design, establish integration standards, and lead modernization efforts across Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Websphere Commerce. You will partner with leadership to translate strategy into scalable solutions, evaluate new tech including AI-assisted development tools, and mentor senior engineers while driving

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience including full-stack work.
• 5+ years in a senior architectural role for large-scale ecommerce/digital platforms.
• Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture.

• Define and maintain target-state architecture for flooranddecor.com.
• Establish patterns and standards for front-end and full-stack services.
• Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives ensuring scalability and security.
• Design integration architecture across commerce, OMS, search, payments, etc.

Purpose:The eCommerce Architect owns the technical architecture and integration strategy for flooranddecor.com and the broader eCommerce technology ecosystem. This role sets the standards for how the platform is built, integrated, and scaled — spanning front-end architecture (React and modern web frameworks), back-end services, and large-scale commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere Commerce.Partnering closely with the eCommerce Leadership, the eCommerce Architect translates long-term technology strategy into a coherent, extensible architecture and provides technical authority across engineering pods without direct people-management responsibility. This individual also leads the organization's adoption of modern, AI-augmented engineering practices — including the responsible use of AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools — to improve delivery speed while safeguarding quality, security, and long-term maintainability.Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:Enterprise & Solution ArchitectureDefine and maintain the target-state architecture for flooranddecor.com, including front-end, back-end, integration, and data layersEstablish architecture patterns and standards for React-based front-end applications and full-stack service designLead architecture reviews for major initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture principlesPlatform Strategy & ModernizationOwn the technical roadmap for the core commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere Commerce), including upgrades, replatforming, and composable/headless commerce initiativesEvaluate emerging platforms, frameworks, and vendor solutions, providing build/buy/partner recommendations to the Sr. Director, eCommerce TechnologyDesign integration architecture across commerce, OMS, search, personalization, payments, and other supporting systemsTechnical Standards & GovernanceEstablish and evangelize coding standards, design patterns, and technical best practices across the eCommerce engineering organizationDefine guidelines for the safe and effective use of AI-assisted development tools across the engineering organization, balancing speed with code quality, security, and complianceParticipate in enterprise architecture, security, and IT governance forums on behalf of eCommerce TechnologyCross-Functional Technical LeadershipAct as the senior-most technical authority for Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Engineers across the eCommerce organization, without formal reporting relationshipsPartner with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to translate strategic goals into sound technical solutionsMentor Lead and Senior eCommerce Engineers on architecture, system design, and platform expertiseEmerging Technology & InnovationContinuously evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML tooling, composable commerce, edge/CDN strategies, etc.) for applicability to flooranddecor.comPrototype and validate new architectural approaches before broader team adoptionRepresent eCommerce Technology in industry forums, vendor briefings, and technology evaluationsMinimum Qualifications10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant full-stack engineering work5+ years of experience in a solution architect, enterprise architect, or comparable senior technical role for large-scale eCommerce or digital commerce platformsExpert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture, along with strong back-end/systems design experienceDemonstrated experience designing integration architectures for high-traffic, customer-facing systemsPreferredDeep, hands-on expertise with a large-scale commerce platform such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere CommerceExperience leading a platform migration, replatform, or composable/headless commerce transformation on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere Commerce, or a comparable platformPractical experience defining organization-wide standards or guardrails for AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)Transformation Track Record: Proven track record of executing a major technology renovation or modernization strategy (preferably containing microservices and GraphQL BFF elements).Experience with cloud-native architecture, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD at enterprise scaleExecutive-level communication skills, with experience presenting architecture decisions and trade-offs to senior technology leadershipRelevant architecture certifications (e.g., Salesforce
