Floor & Decor in Atlanta is seeking an experienced ECommerce Architect to own the technical architecture for flooranddecor.com and the broader ecommerce technology ecosystem. You will shape front-end (React) and back-end architectures, define integration patterns, and guide platform modernization on systems like Salesforce Commerce Cloud and WebSphere Commerce.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant full-stack engineering work.
• 5+ years in a solution architect, enterprise architect, or comparable senior technical role for large-scale eCommerce or digital commerce platforms.
• Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture, along with strong back-end/systems design experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing integration architectures for high-traffic, customer-facing systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the target-state architecture for flooranddecor.com, including front-end, back-end, integration, and data layers.
• Own the technical roadmap for core commerce platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere); oversee upgrades and replatforming.
• Establish coding standards and governance across the engineering org; define guidelines for AI-assisted tooling.
• Act as the senior-most technical authority to engineers and partner with Product/Design to translate goals into technical solutions.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies (AI tooling, headless commerce) and prototype new architectural approaches.

Purpose

The eCommerce Architect owns the technical architecture and integration strategy for flooranddecor.com and the broader eCommerce technology ecosystem. This role sets the standards for how the platform is built, integrated, and scaled — spanning front-end architecture (React and modern web frameworks), back-end services, and large-scale commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere Commerce.

Purpose

The eCommerce Architect owns the technical architecture and integration strategy for flooranddecor.com and the broader eCommerce technology ecosystem. This role sets the standards for how the platform is built, integrated, and scaled — spanning front-end architecture (React and modern web frameworks), back-end services, and large-scale commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere Commerce.

Partnering closely with the eCommerce Leadership, the eCommerce Architect translates long-term technology strategy into a coherent, extensible architecture and provides technical authority across engineering pods without direct people-management responsibility. This individual also leads the organization's adoption of modern, AI-augmented engineering practices — including the responsible use of AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools — to improve delivery speed while safeguarding quality, security, and long-term maintainability.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

Enterprise & Solution Architecture

• Define and maintain the target-state architecture for flooranddecor.com, including front-end, back-end, integration, and data layers
• Establish architecture patterns and standards for React-based front-end applications and full-stack service design
• Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles

Platform Strategy & Modernization

• Own the technical roadmap for the core commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere Commerce), including upgrades, replatforming, and composable/headless commerce initiatives
• Evaluate emerging platforms, frameworks, and vendor solutions, providing build/buy/partner recommendations to the Sr. Director, eCommerce Technology
• Design integration architecture across commerce, OMS, search, personalization, payments, and other supporting systems

Technical Standards & Governance

• Establish and evangelize coding standards, design patterns, and technical best practices across the eCommerce engineering organization
• Define guidelines for the safe and effective use of AI-assisted development tools across the engineering organization, balancing speed with code quality, security, and compliance
• Participate in enterprise architecture, security, and IT governance forums on behalf of eCommerce Technology

Cross-Functional Technical Leadership

• Act as the senior-most technical authority for Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Engineers across the eCommerce organization, without formal reporting relationships
• Partner with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to translate strategic goals into sound technical solutions
• Mentor Lead and Senior eCommerce Engineers on architecture, system design, and platform expertise

Emerging Technology & Innovation

• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML tooling, composable commerce, edge/CDN strategies, etc.) for applicability to flooranddecor.com
• Prototype and validate new architectural approaches before broader team adoption
• Represent eCommerce Technology in industry forums, vendor briefings, and technology evaluations

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant full-stack engineering work
• 5+ years of experience in a solution architect, enterprise architect, or comparable senior technical role for large-scale eCommerce or digital commerce platforms
• Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture, along with strong back-end/systems design experience
• Demonstrated experience designing integration architectures for high-traffic, customer-facing systems

Preferred

• Deep, hands-on expertise with a large-scale commerce platform such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere Commerce
• Experience leading a platform migration, replatform, or composable-headless commerce transformation on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere Commerce, or a comparable platform
• Practical experience defining organization-wide standards or guardrails for AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Transformation Track Record: Proven track record of executing a major technology renovation or modernization strategy (preferably containing microservices and GraphQL BFF elements).
• Experience with cloud-native architecture, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD at enterprise scale
• Executive-level communication skills, with experience presenting architecture decisions and trade-offs to senior technology leadership
• Relevant architecture certifications (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud Architect, AWS/Azure/GCP architecture certifications) a plus
