CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Instrument Services Sr. Technician in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on calibrating, maintaining, and performing major repairs on scientific instrumentation within critical client environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2–3 years related experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office apps.
• Ability to follow procedures and document maintenance activity.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, calibrate, and maintain equipment.
• Operate test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Coordinate removal of equipment for major repairs during scheduled maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems during unscheduled work.
• Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions; initiate corrective actions.
• Document daily inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Coordinate with external contractors and customers on calibration and repair work.
• Source parts, estimate costs, and prepare requisitions.
• Develop equipment maintenance and calibration procedures.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Laboratory Instrument Services Sr. Technician, you will calibrate, maintain, and complete the major repairs of scientific instrumentation.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What You’ll Do:

• Take apart, examine, clean, fix, calibrate, check, and take care of special equipment, systems, and controls.
• Operate test equipment. This includes multimeters, frequency generators, and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes.
• Coordinate the removal of equipment requiring extensive repairs during scheduled maintenance periods.
• Troubleshoot, service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work.
• Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment. If needed, start corrective action and documentation.
• Review and document daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed.
• Coordinate with external contractors on repairs covered by maintenance agreements. Communicate with customer staff and outside contractors about the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment.
• Locate part sources, estimate costs, and prepare requisitions.
• Track instrument and part reliability; make alternate service, supplier, and parts recommendations.
• Oversee the development of equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
• Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.
• Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

• Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
• Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

What You’ll Need:

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 2-3 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
• Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
• Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
