Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Laboratory Instrument Services Technician in Indianapolis to calibrate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on scientific instrumentation. The role sits within the Critical and Technical Services group, supporting technical maintenance in client environments.

You will take apart, clean, calibrate, and repair equipment, operate test tools, and document inspections. Strong organizational skills and basic math are essential in a highly structured setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Meet the physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs and ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Follow basic work routines and standards; exchange straightforward information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, calibrate, and maintain equipment and systems.

About The Role

As a CBRE Laboratory Instrument Services Technician, you will calibrate, maintain, and complete the minor repairs of scientific instrumentation.



This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.



What You’ll Do


  • Take apart, examine, clean, fix, calibrate, check, and take care of equipment, systems, and controls.

  • Operate test equipment. This includes multimeters and galvanometers.

  • Coordinate the removal of equipment needing basic repairs during scheduled maintenance periods.

  • Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment.

  • Responsible for locating part sources and estimating costs.

  • Document daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed.

  • Coordinate with external contractors on repairs covered by maintenance agreements.

  • Assist with the development of equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.

  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.

  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.

  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.



What You’ll Need


  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.

  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.

  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

  • Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
