Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Instrument Services Sr. Technician to calibrate, maintain, and complete major repairs of scientific instrumentation in client environments.

You will operate precision test equipment, document activities, and coordinate extensive repairs with external contractors. The role requires 2–3 years of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 2-3 years of job-related experience.
  • Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow existing procedures to solve standard problems.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair major scientific instruments and equipment.
  • Operate test equipment including multimeters, frequency generators, counters, oscilloscopes, and related devices.
  • Coordinate removal of equipment requiring major repairs during scheduled maintenance periods.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems during unscheduled work.
  • Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions; initiate corrective action when needed.
  • Document daily records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and other work performed.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and communicate with customer staff about calibration, repair, and operation of equipment.
  • Locate part sources, estimate costs, and prepare requisitions.

Job description

CBRE Full Spectrum Lab Services provides end to end scientific support for clients across life sciences, manufacturing, and other industries. We partner with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, healthcare, food and beverage producers, automotive and tooling innovators, and both contract research organizations (CROs) and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to keep their operations running at peak performance.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Laboratory Instrument Services Sr. Technician, you will calibrate, maintain, and complete the major repairs of scientific instrumentation.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What You’ll Do:
  • Take apart, examine, clean, fix, calibrate, check, and take care of special equipment, systems, and controls.
  • Operate test equipment. This includes multimeters, frequency generators, and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes.
  • Coordinate the removal of equipment requiring extensive repairs during scheduled maintenance periods.
  • Troubleshoot, service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work.
  • Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment. If needed, start corrective action and documentation.
  • Review and document daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed.
  • Coordinate with external contractors on repairs covered by maintenance agreements. Communicate with customer staff and outside contractors about the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment.
  • Locate part sources, estimate costs, and prepare requisitions.
  • Track instrument and part reliability; make alternate service, supplier, and parts recommendations.
  • Oversee the development of equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
  • Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.
What You’ll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 2-3 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Must have appropriate license or certification where required by law.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
