The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking a Sr. Human Resources Generalist to perform a wide variety of HR-related tasks.

Job Description

This full-time/exempt position requires multi-tasking, the ability to switch between projects with little notice, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines and pressure while remaining friendly and professional. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate good judgment aligned with the Association's core values, policies, and procedures, and be a problem solver, influential, and flexible. Must be customer service-driven and a supportive team player.

Qualifications

  • Strong human relations and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills including intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS database
  • Benefits and leave management experience
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Compliance with policies, procedures, and laws; maintaining confidentiality
  • Flexibility to assist during seasonal peak hiring and changing business needs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under tight deadlines
  • Accuracy in completing tasks and meeting departmental deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and human relations skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Confidentiality maintenance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Communications preferred
  • Experience in a professional office environment preferred
  • Must pass reference checks, pre-employment drug screening, criminal history, and sex offender checks

Essential Functions

  • Perform HR functions including onboarding, benefits, and leave
  • Manage employee relations and build strong relationships with staff and management
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide recommendations to supervisors on employee issues
  • Assist with performance improvement plans and coaching memos
  • Interpret association policies
  • Manage leave processes, benefits administration, FMLA, ACA, and open enrollment
  • Handle accommodation requests from employees and patrons
  • Provide training and presentations to large groups
  • Process status change forms for hires, transfers, and terminations
  • Conduct employment verifications, background, and drug testing
  • Generate employee and department reports
  • Onboard seasonal, part-time, and full-time staff
  • Provide compliance training
  • Verify data accuracy before entry into HR systems
  • Organize and retain employee records properly
  • Assist with special projects and participate in events as required
