Role Overview

The Mainframe Senior Engineer will maintain customer environments, resolve technical issues, and support system migrations and expansions, with expertise in z Series systems, Virtual Tape, and related networking.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform reporting functions as required by customers
2. Support cases and incidents beyond operational scope
3. Install, maintain, and configure ISV products
4. Assist hardware configuration and upgrades
5. Participate in customer migrations with minimal impact
6. Document systems thoroughly
7. Support customer migration to FNTS or remote management
8. Implement new technologies per team roadmap
9. Manage software releases and system templates
10. Contribute to technical infrastructure projects as the Mainframe SME
11. Provide occasional after-hours and weekend support

Qualifications

• Experience as a Mainframe Systems Engineer
• Knowledge of z/OS, JES2, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, RACF, ASM, GRS
• Experience with CICS, IMS, DB2, Datacom, MQ Series
• Support functions for DBA and applications
• Networking concepts including VTAM, TCP/IP
• Storage management skills in SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF Catalogs
• Hardware knowledge of z systems, LPAR configuration, JBOD, RAID, SAN
• Experience with tape libraries, OS upgrades, automation tools
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Additional qualifications include z/VSE, z/VM concepts, hardware familiarity (DS8000, TS7700, tape systems), and mirroring technologies.

Compensation

Range: $88,067 - $145,309, with potential variation based on experience and skills.
