Job summary

Aleron is seeking a Sr. Engineer in San Diego, CA for a temporary, 12+ month assignment. The role focuses on infrastructure support, network troubleshooting, hardware repair, and in-person IT break/fix across multiple sites.

The engineer will perform Move/Add/Change activities, setup and test systems, monitor networks, and repair telecom equipment while ensuring security clearances and compliance for federal requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in network connectivity assessment and troubleshooting
• 3+ years hardware repair and IT break/fix
• 3+ years experience with Windows, Unix/Linux, or Apple OS
• 3+ years of in-person technical support
• Ability to work across multiple sites and travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Performs Move/Add/Change activity including network modifications
• Moves/adds connections in network closet and terminates ports at end location
• Basic network monitoring
• Sets up and ensures operability of systems and hardware prior to field deployment
• Analyzes failed equipment, performs repairs and tests
• Repairs data connectors on network cables and data drops
• Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs telephones
• Data termination/activation in telecommunications closets
• Supports telecommunications equipment and telephone switching
• Supports multiple sites and requires reliable transportation

What You'll Do:

• Performs identified Move/Add/Change activity to include all required network modifications.
• Include moving/adding connection in network closet and terminating port connections at the end location (conference room, desk, office, etc.).
• Basic network monitoring
• Sets up and ensures operability of systems and hardware components prior to field deployment.
• Analyzes failed equipment, performs standard repairs, and tests of components or equipment.
• Repair and replace data connectors on network cables and data drop
• Duties include installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing telephones.
• Perform data termination/ activation in telecommunication closets aka network connect (activation of data drops)
• Assists with telecommunications equipment and telephone switching equipment related to processing and transmission
• Tech will be supporting multiple sites and needs reliable transportation.

What You'll Bring:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years of experience in network connectivity assessment (troubleshooting and setups).
• Minimum 3 years of experience with technical experience consisting of hardware repair and IT break/fix.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical experience consisting of operation systems such as Windows, Unix/Linux, or Apple.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in providing technical support in an in-person setting
