Job summary

Acara Solutions seeks a Service Activation Engineer in Melbourne, FL to support FAA/FTI program activities. You will oversee installation, activation, testing, and documentation of network services, coordinating with internal and external teams to meet program requirements.

Requirements include a strong background in Ethernet/IP networks, testing/validation, and experience with telecom service activations. This role demands attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree required.
  • 8+ years leading network vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, RAD).
  • 8+ years with MetaSolv database modeling.
  • 2+ years WAN telecom networks experience.
  • 8+ years Ethernet and IP experience.
  • 8+ years coordinating maintenance requests.
  • 8+ years troubleshooting IP networks.
  • 8+ years data protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS.
  • 8+ years testing/validation and documentation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and document formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services per program requirements.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate communication circuits per IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO and FTI specifications.
  • Collaborate with FTI Engineering team to resolve implementation and acceptance issues.
  • Coordinate Maintenance Request activity to support engineering changes per program requirements.
  • Execute service disconnects per customer/program request via the established process.

About the Opportunity
  • We are looking for a motivated individual ready for an exciting opportunity to join the FTI team as a Service Activation Engineer supporting the FAA/FTI program.
  • As a Service Activation Engineer, candidate will support supervision of FTI equipment and service order installation and activation.
  • The candidate will collaborate with internal and external teams and work independently implementing scheduled network maintenance events.
  • Other tasks include managing special projects supporting program requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Execute and document formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services per program requirements
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate communication circuits per IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO and FTI specifications
  • Collaborate closely with FTI Engineering team members to resolve implementation and acceptance issues as needed
  • Responsible to execute a coordinated Maintenance Request (MR) activity to support, Engineering changes per customer and program requirements.
  • Responsible to execute services disconnects throughout the established Network / CPE per customer and program request via established program disconnect process.
Job Requirements
What You’ll Bring
  • Associate’s Degree
  • 8+ years of experience in leading network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, RAD
  • 8+ years of experience in database modeling software such as MetaSolv
  • 2+ years of experience in WAN Telecommunications networks
  • 8+ years of experience in Ethernet and IP
  • 8+ years of experience in coordinating maintenance request activities
  • 8+ years of experience in troubleshooting IP network configurations
  • 8+ years of experience in data protocols that include TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS
  • 8+ years of experience in previous technical writing background/skills in order to execute and document formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services per program requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in previous telecommunications, testing/troubleshooting and validation of service activations
What Sets You Apart
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
  • Highly motivated and capable of developing and following detailed instructions and action plans
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Strong skill set with Microsoft Office applications
  • Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completion of tasks per project schedule
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and technical procedures
  • Prior experience with Sonet architecture
  • Cisco Design experience
  • Problem solving
  • Strong communication skills (able to communicate effectively to customer reps)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment to meet critical deadlines
  • Knowledge of FTI Telecommunications equipment installation, configuration and testing standards including TDM, PDH, SDH, SONET, and IP network architecture
  • Domain knowledge of data protocols including TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, HSRP, IS-IS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet
  • Strong customer interface skills supporting coordination of both Telco providers and Harris field technician site access as required
  • Possesses an intermediate (CCNA) certification

  • Requires the ability to obtain an Active Secret Clearance
