Job summary

Sigma Earth is seeking a seasoned energy transactions leader to drive complex commercial and industrial deals from origination to close. You’ll own the process, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and manage RFPs, developer selection, and final agreements while engaging Fortune 500 clients and senior executives.

Expect to mentor junior staff, explain risk-adjusted transaction value, and stay current on policy, market trends, and incentives in solar, storage, and other distributed generation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, energy, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of energy industry experience with exposure to commercial transactions, origination, or deal execution.
  • Proven experience owning and closing energy transactions end-to-end.
  • Direct experience with PPAs, ESAs, ground leases, rooftop leases, or other distributed generation contracts.
  • Experience leading contract negotiations with sophisticated counterparties, including commercial term structuring and legal review.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple active deals across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with senior corporate stakeholders in energy, sustainability, finance, procurement, or real estate functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and commercial topics clearly to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex commercial and industrial energy transactions from start to finish, including PPAs, ground and rooftop leases, and value-share agreements across different energy solutions.
  • Own the transaction process with support from the Senior Director, managing everything from initial client conversations and RFPs to developer selection and final agreements.
  • Coordinate project workflows, resolve transaction challenges, and build strong relationships with customers and developer partners to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Engage senior stakeholders at Fortune 500 companies, including leaders in energy, sustainability, finance, procurement, real estate, and C-suite executives such as CFOs.
  • Prepare persuasive presentations and communications that clearly explain transaction value, risks, and recommendations.
  • Maintain credibility with developer counterparties by understanding market terms across solar, BESS, and fuel cell structures, and identifying when proposed terms are not aligned with market standards.
  • Translate client needs into practical transaction structures and help clients understand developer constraints in commercially workable terms.
  • Act as a trusted expert in distributed generation energy markets by staying current on policy updates, market trends, and incentive programs.
  • Mentor analyst and associate-level team members on analysis, client communication, and transaction support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in distributed generation, including solar, storage, BESS, or fuel cells, in an origination, commercial, or development role.
  • Working knowledge of utility tariffs, interconnection processes, state incentives, and policy trends across multiple U.S. markets.
  • Familiarity with project finance concepts and developer-side economics for distributed generation deals.
  • MBA or another advanced degree.
Relevant Candidate Backgrounds
  • Distributed generation development, especially solar, storage, or BESS, in origination or commercial roles.
  • Corporate energy procurement with proven contract execution experience.
  • Renewable energy origination or structured energy sales.
  • Energy project finance or investment banking with client-facing responsibilities.
  • Power markets or energy infrastructure commercialization.
