Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Phoenix, Minnesota, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Denver.

Our Loan Administration team is looking to hire a Senior Business Risk Process Manager supporting the SVB Commercial Division. This position is an individual contributor and will report directly to the Director, Business Risk Process Management within the Loan Administration organization, with a dotted line reporting to the Business Risk & Controls Office.

This position will be responsible for the development and execution of first-line risk programs, primarily contributing to the design and implementation of a newly created First Line Monitoring Program, focusing on Commercial Lending and Loan Closing processes. Successful implementation will involve collaboration with the Business Risk & Controls Office and Credit Administration to identify and communicate results to Senior Leadership.

The role includes consulting, educating, and supporting the execution of first-line risk programs, fostering an environment of risk awareness and ownership across the Bank, while adhering to the Company's Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy.

This is a prominent role within SVB, serving as a subject matter expert on commercial banking processes to promote accountability and risk ownership within the Commercial Division. The candidate will drive awareness, process improvements, and a risk-aware culture throughout the organization.

The candidate will support the development and implementation of the First Line Monitoring Program and lead high-visibility issue remediation initiatives, requiring excellent change and project management skills. Connecting related teams and workflows will be critical for success.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the First Line Monitoring Program focusing on commercial lending credit approval and loan closing processes, including reviewing Associate workpapers.
  • Support business leadership in 2nd LOD, 3rd LOD, and external audits and exams, managing remediation projects.
  • Participate in risk governance meetings, communicating findings from the First Line Monitoring Program.
  • Drive effective change management communication among 1st LOD stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the control environment through actionable insights.
  • Communicate issues and requests proactively, maintaining a 'no surprises' approach.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending, Enterprise Risk, Credit Review, Control Testing, or similar, or High School/GED with 10 years of experience.
  • Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and supervisory guidance for large financial institutions.
  • Experience developing presentations and presenting to Senior Leadership.
  • Understanding of business strategy, risk profile, and exposures.
  • Experience building and leading risk teams.
  • Proven ability to implement change and persuade stakeholders effectively.

The position's pay range in Denver is approximately $122,804 to $163,739 annually, based on experience and other factors. Total compensation may include bonuses and benefits.
