Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Phoenix, Minnesota, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Denver.

Our Loan Administration team is seeking a Senior Business Risk Process Manager to support the SVB Commercial Division. This individual contributor role reports directly to the Director of Business Risk Process Management within Loan Administration, with a dotted line to the Business Risk & Controls Office.

The position involves developing and executing first line risk programs, primarily focusing on the design and implementation of a new First Line Monitoring Program, emphasizing Commercial Lending and Loan Closing processes. Successful implementation will involve collaboration with the Business Risk & Controls office and Credit Administration to identify issues and communicate results to Senior Leadership.

The role includes consulting, educating, and supporting the execution of risk programs, fostering risk awareness and ownership across the bank, while aligning with the company's risk appetite and strategy.

This prominent position within SVB makes the candidate a subject matter expert on commercial banking processes, driving accountability and risk culture throughout the organization.

The candidate will support the development of the First Line Monitoring Program and lead high-visibility issue remediation initiatives, requiring excellent change and project management skills. The ability to connect related teams and workflows is essential for success.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the First Line Monitoring Program, focusing on commercial lending credit approval and loan closing processes, including review of Associate workpapers.
  • Support business leadership during exams and audits by 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense and external regulators, including managing remediation projects.
  • Participate in risk governance meetings, communicating findings from the First Line Monitoring Program.
  • Drive effective change management communication among first line stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment through insights.
  • Communicate issues and requests proactively, maintaining a 'no surprises' approach.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending, Enterprise Risk, Credit Review, Control Testing supporting Commercial Lending, Business Risk Process Management, or similar; or High School/GED with 10 years of relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and supervisory guidance for large financial institutions.
  • Experience in developing presentations and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Understanding of business strategy, risk factors, and exposures.
  • Experience building risk teams.
  • Proven track record of implementing change and persuading stakeholders.

For Denver, the salary range is approximately $122,804 - $163,739, based on experience and other factors. Total compensation may include bonuses, benefits, and incentives.
