Job summary

UCSF Health in San Francisco is seeking a Sr. APeX Application Analyst to lead planning, implementation, and ongoing support for Epic Willow across clinical operations.

You will analyze workflows, document specifications, review releases, build databases, and drive training and go-live activities with 24/7 support. The role requires Epic Willow Ambulatory Certification, a PharmD (or clinical) background, and 5+ years of Epic experience in an academic medical center setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area.
  • PharmD degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epic Willow Ambulatory Application Certification.
  • In‑depth knowledge of 1–2 areas of focus in retail/specialty pharmacy—including operations, system design, implementation, user support, training, testing, and evaluation.
  • Advanced problem‑resolution skills for complex issues, including rapid diagnosis and effective solution implementation.
  • Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills for training and collaboration with clinical users and stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including data analysis, metrics application, testing, and report production.
  • Ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, providing guidance on system improvements and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and implementation of clinical software, hardware, and operating systems at all levels of complexity.
  • Perform advanced analyses of patient care workflow, develop IT solutions for improved integration and outcomes, and contribute to new workflows.
  • Lead in-depth analysis and documentation of system specifications, identify process changes due to upgrades, and provide guidance to senior staff.
  • Develop new projects, resolve system analysis and testing issues, and manage technical challenges.
  • Design and conduct user training for complex clinical information systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, coordinate service and support across teams and vendors, and develop new functionality.
  • Coordinate development of standard SOPs, support change and innovation, and consult with clinicians to improve technology use.

Education

Job Description
As the Sr. APeX Application Analyst, you will serve as the primary support contact and expert for the application. You will work under the direction of the Team Lead and/or Manager to configure, build, and install the application, coordinating all issues that arise during the project for your application area. Your responsibilities include analyzing workflows and understanding the policies, procedures, and constraints of the clinical or business operations supported by the application, documenting operational specifications and application functionality, reviewing new releases, building and populating databases, conducting system testing and data validation, developing and documenting internal procedures, establishing change control processes, and leading project initiatives. You will also develop user training aids, train end users, troubleshoot problems during training and go‑live, and provide ongoing support 24/7.

Required Certification
