Sr. Accounting Manager

$110k - $140k Base + Bonus

Job Purpose

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing a team of accountants. This role ensures compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in business reporting and risk management. This role serves as a second line of defense for financial controls and compliance across teams, functions, and locations. They maintain and enforce the controls framework, ensure internal and external policy compliance, and uphold the accuracy and integrity of the company’s balance sheet.

Principal Accountabilities

• Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
• Accounting Operations Management: Supervise and mentor a team of accountants to ensure high-quality work and meet reporting deadlines.
• Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all necessary adjustments are made.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and review of the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actual and budgeted results and provide detailed explanations to management.
• Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish, monitor, and improve internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Leadership and Development: Lead, train, and motivate a team of accounting professionals to foster a high-performance culture.
• Audit Management: Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits, ensuring all documentation and requests are provided.
• Financial Analysis and Decision Support: Provide in-depth financial analysis to senior management, including identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Tax and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws.
• Cash Planning & Treasury Support: Monitor daily cash balances and manage short-term funding needs.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors in financial operations.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
• CPA or other relevant certifications (CMA, CFA)
• 10 years minimum experience in accounting
• 3 years minimum experience in managerial role(s)
• Experience in medical manufacturing industry
• Expertise in leading multi-site, global financial close and in-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Effective communication style and ability to work cross-functionally and with senior leadership
• Demonstrated experience in optimizing processes and leading multiple projects
