Job summary

Sonoco in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a Spiral Technician II for the 1st shift (6:30am-3:30pm) with overtime as needed. You will operate and troubleshoot equipment, perform cutter setup, and maintain logs to ensure production quality, efficiency, and safety.

Required are strong mechanical skills, ability to work with teams, and a keen eye for defect detection in a fast-paced environment. Excellent attendance and willingness to work overtime when required are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment as required.
• Operate cutter and perform machine preventive maintenance.
• Document and maintain machine logs and production metrics.
• Interpret and understand production orders; report scrap and efficiency.
• Assist crew with setups, packaging, quality requirements, and production specs.
• Maintain strong housekeeping and safety practices; comply with LOTO.
• Identify cost savings opportunities and communicate to management.

Location: Pittsfield, MA, Position: Spiral Technician II Pay: $23.28/hr Shift: 1st 6:30am-3:30pm, Fridays- 6:30 am- 10:30am- with possible overtime. No weekends. While reporting to the shift supervisor you will work in production for our tube and core division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. You must have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

What you'll be doing:

• Mechanical skills to operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment as required will also be needed.
• Ability to operate cutter.
• This team member will also be required to perform machine preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment.
• The technician position will require proficiency level to operate machine on a substitute basis.

• Ability to interpret and understand production orders and requirements Report and track production information - scrap, machine efficiency, machine down time, paper usage.
