Job summary

Sonoco Products Company in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Spiral Technician to support the tube and core division, ensuring safe, efficient operation. You will learn and assist winders, operate and set up equipment, and monitor quality with emphasis on timely data entry and collaboration.

Overtime may be required; strong attendance, teamwork, and a good eye for defects on the packing line are valued. This role reports to the shift supervisor in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are required.
• Attention to safety and housekeeping is essential.
• Ability to interpret Oracle production orders and enter data accurately.
• Experience with machine setup and preventive maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with cutter operation and tube/construction concepts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist all required machine and support 17' winder equipment setups.
• Operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Operate cutter and perform machine preventive maintenance.
• Maintain machine logs and report quality measurements and metrics.
• Support other crew members with setups, packaging, and production specs.

Job description

Location: Cincinnati, OH

Position: Spiral Technician

Pay: $24.51/hr

Shift: 3rd

Must be willing to work overtime when needed

While reporting to the shift supervisor you will work in production for our tube and core division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands‑on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

What you'll be doing:

• This position will be required to learn and assist all required machine and support 17' winder equipment set ups.
• Mechanical skills to operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment as required will also be needed.
• Ability to operate cutter.
• This team member will also be required to perform machine preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment related to the carpet yarn line.
• The technician position will require proficiency level to operate machine on a substitute basis.

• Excellent knowledge of all LOTO requirements.
• Initiative and ability to understand sense of urgency to meet customer requirements. Customer focused.
• Ability to identify cost savings opportunities and communicate to management.
