Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Production Worker in Irving, TX to join our tube and core division. You will contribute to fast-paced manufacturing, ensuring quality while maintaining safety and efficiency.

The role involves first and third shift options, with overtime potential, and requires readiness to lift up to 50 lbs and operate a forklift as needed. You will collaborate with multiple teams, learn setup of new jobs, and support continuous improvement initiatives, all while upholding Sonoco’s standards

Qualifications

• One year minimum in a manufacturing/warehouse setting.
• Must have a 'get it done' attitude and urgency to resolve tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Forklift certification and safe operation experience required.
• Able to read and understand manufacturing instructions and work across multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with other departments and teams.
• Troubleshoot problems and adapt to changing needs on the line.
• Make incremental process adjustments and monitor product quality.
• Learn to set up new jobs and train on other lines and departments.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform duties assigned by supervisor/manager.
• Support Sonoco’s quality and safety policies in all tasks.
• Assist other departments as needed.

Position: Production Worker Location: Irving, TX Pay: $21.88/hr Shifts available: 1st: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm Monday-Friday 3rd: 8pm thru 6:30 am (10 hour shifts) Monday thru Thursday (Shift Differential Rate - 3rd Shift - $1.00) **MUST BE WILLING TO WORK OVERTIME** From a small family business to a multi-billion dollar global company, Sonoco has been changing the face of products and packaging since 1899 — all while keeping the heart of “People Build Businesses” alive. While reporting to the shift supervisor you will work in production for our tube and core division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands‑on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing:

• Collaborating closely with other departments and teams
• Having the ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot problems and situations
• Making incremental process adjustments, monitor and report quality of manufactured product
• Learn to set up new jobs, train on other lines and in other departments
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area
• Performing all duties as designated by supervisor/manager
• Performing all duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies
• Helping out other departments as needed
• Downtime is cleaning and straightening time

• You are Sonoco mission driven.
• You have at least 1 year in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
• You have to have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
• You can easily lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
• You have previously held a Forklift Certification and safely operate a forklift.
• Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.
• You need to have working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.
• Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
• Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.
• You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
• You will need to able to perform repetitive duties, including going up and down stairs and standing for long periods of time.
• You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
