Job summary

Via Christi Village Pittsburg is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech or language disorders and to formulate individualized treatment programs.

Under physician direction, you will provide direct patient care, screen and develop care plans, administer tests, educate residents and families, and maintain accurate records in a SNF environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • State licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
  • Proficiency with applicable state, federal, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, hearing, cognitive, or swallowing issues.
  • Under a physician’s direction, provide direct patient treatment based on established care plans.
  • Screen and evaluate residents and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Plan, direct, or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communication and/or swallowing capabilities.
  • Administer, score, and interpret specialized hearing and speech tests.
  • Instruct residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and practice new skills.
  • Complete required forms and document according to policy and regulations.
  • Maintain patient records accurately and timely.
  • Devises special tools and treatments for individual patient needs.

Job Summary:

The Speech Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech or language disorders, formulate individualized treatment programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, hearing, cognitive, or swallowing issues.

  • Under a physician’s direction, provides direct patient / resident treatment based on established plan of care.

  • Screens and evaluates Resident and develops appropriate care plan

  • Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and / or swallowing or cognitive problems.

  • Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.

  • Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.

  • Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.

  • Maintains patient records in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members

  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job

Education and Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited Masters, or Doctorate in Speech language Pathology.

  • State license as a speech pathologist required.

  • Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
