Job summary

South Carolina Health Care Association is seeking a Speech Therapist in the Rehab department to evaluate and treat residents with speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Under the supervision of the Director of Rehab, you will perform screenings, develop care plans, administer tests, and educate residents and families. This is an in-person role with standard benefits and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
• Licensed in Speech-Language Pathology as required by state law
• CCC or CFY certification issued by a recognized body
• One-year clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Screens and evaluates residents and develops appropriate care plan.
• Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient treatment based on established plan of care.
• Plans and conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency.
• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and practice new skills.
• Maintains patient records in an accurate and timely manner.

JOB SUMMARY

Evaluates and treats residents and patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Screens and evaluates Resident and develops appropriate care plan.
• Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient / resident treatment based on established plan of care.
• Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and / or swallowing or cognitive problems.
• Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
• Instructs residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
• Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
• Maintains patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree from an accredited program; eligible for CCC or CFY
• Licensed in Speech Language Pathology as required by state law.
• Certification in clinical competency.
• One-year clinical experience preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Participates in (or conducts) company-sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of resident's protected health information. Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and state and federal law.
