Corewell Health Taylor Hospital in Taylor, MI is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. You will develop and implement individualized treatment plans to promote independence after discharge.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Evaluate referred patients and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and care team to promote patient independence post-discharge.

Corwell Health Taylor Hospital is a 148-bed hospital that is a recognized health care leader in the metro Detroit area. Proudly serving Taylor and surrounding communities since 1977, it offers specialty services including 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT w/cardiac scoring, Fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK & elastography).

Scope of Work

The Speech-Language Pathologist is an independent health care professional who provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. The Speech Language pathologist is responsible to evaluate referred patients, establish patient and family centered goals and develop and execute treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting. The staff speech language pathologist also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession.

A. Education / Training:

Master’s Degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), ASHA.

B. Work Experience:

Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.

Experience with head and neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and modified barium swallow studies.

C. Certification, Licensure, Registration:

Certificate of Clinical Competence, America Speech-Language-Hearing Association, (required) or

Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

Licensure in Speech Pathology-Michigan (required) or temporary license during the CFY (required)
