Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to provide individualized patient care for speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders in both children and adults.

The role involves evaluating referred patients, establishing patient- and family-centered goals, and executing treatment plans to maximize independence, while participating in department performance improvement and education.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree, CCC or CFY completion as required by ASHA.
• Michigan licensure or temporary license during CFY.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
• Evaluate referred patients, set family-centered goals, and develop and implement treatment plans.
• Contribute to performance improvement and educational opportunities within the department.

Opened in 1945 by the Sisters of Bon Secours, it was acquired by Beaumont Health System in October 2007. Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital offers medical, surgical, emergency, obstetric and critical care services.

About The Unit The Speech and Language Pathology Department is widely recognized for its excellent programs dealing with adult communication disorders resulting from a brain injury, voice problems, swallowing disorders or oral motor dysfunction.

Scope Of Work The Speech-Language Pathologist is an independent health care professional who provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. The Speech Language pathologist is responsible to evaluate referred patients, establish patient and family centered goals and develop and execute treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting. The staff speech language pathologist also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession.

Standard Qualifications

• Master’s Degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), ASHA.
• Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.
• Experience with head and neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and modified barium swallow studies.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence, America Speech-Language-Hearing Association, (required) or
• Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
• Licensure in Speech Pathology-Michigan (required) or temporary license during the CFY (required)
