Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to provide individualized care for both children and adults with neurological speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. The role includes evaluation, goal setting, and evidence-based treatment planning, with emphasis on discharge independence.

Responsibilities also include participation in performance improvement and education opportunities to advance the department and profession.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• Experience with adult and pediatric neuro speech-language disorders incl. aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia.
• CCC-SLP or Michigan licensure (or CFY licensure) required.
• Experience in head/neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and MBS studies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders per physician referral.
• Evaluate referred patients, set goals with families, and develop targeted treatment plans.
• Promote independence in discharge planning and participate in performance-improvement activities.
• Engage in ongoing professional education and contribute to the department’s growth.

About Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of Work

Provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. Is responsible to evaluate referred patients, establish patient and family centered goals and develop and execute treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting. Also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree
• Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.
• Experience with head and neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and modified barium swallow studies.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence, America Speech-Language-Hearing Association, (required) or
• Licensure in Speech Pathology-Michigan (required) or temporary license during the CFY (required)
