Job summary

IU Health is seeking qualified Speech-Language Pathologists to provide diagnostic evaluations, design treatment plans, and deliver direct patient care at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. The role includes supervision of support staff and students, with one weekend day per month required.

Candidates should hold a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology, an Indiana license, and ASHA CCC or eligibility, with BLS certification. Additional life support credentials may be required by the unit.

Qualifications

• Must have a Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
• Must hold or be eligible for ASHA CCC certification.
• Must hold and maintain Indiana state licensure.
• BLS certification required; advanced life support may be required by unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Perform speech pathology evaluations to determine impairment level.
• Design and implement treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing.
• Provide direct patient care and supervise support personnel and students.
• Participate in related activities supporting patient care, education and department operations.

Shift: One weekend day per month is required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment. After administering the appropriate tests and measures, a treatment plan is designed for improved communication and swallowing. Performs direct patient care services including the supervision of support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.

Requirements:

• Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
• Requires current license in the State of Indiana.
• Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Preferred Skills

• 6 months’ experience in Acute Care Inpatient Rehab required.
