Job summary

Riley Hospital – Acute Care Rehab is recruiting a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders. The role includes designing treatment plans, delivering direct patient care, and supervising support personnel and students.

Candidates must hold a Master’s in Speech Pathology, Indiana licensure, and ASHA CCC or eligibility; BLS is required, with ALS per unit policy. Weekend requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech Pathology is required.
• Current Indiana state licensure is required.
• ASHA CCC or eligibility is required or anticipated.
• BLS certification is required.
• ALS may be required per unit/department policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform speech pathology evaluations to determine impairment level.
• Design and implement treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing.
• Provide direct patient care and supervise staff and students.
• Participate in department activities to support patient care and operations.

Shift

8am-4:30pm M-F; however, also weekend requirements. Weekend requirements: 6-7 weekend days every 6 months and one holiday a year.

Requirements

• Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.


• Requires current license in the State of Indiana.


• Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate.


• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.


• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Roles and Responsibilities

Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment. After administering the appropriate tests and measures, a treatment plan is designed for improved communication and swallowing. Performs direct patient care services including the supervision of support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.
