Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist at Riley Hospital – Acute Care Rehab. The role involves diagnostic evaluations, planning and delivering therapy to improve communication and swallowing, and supervising students and support staff on a patient-care floor.

Applicants must hold a Master’s in Speech Pathology, be licensed in Indiana, and have ASHA CCC or be eligible. BLS certification is required, with ALS as needed by department policies.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in speech pathology from an accredited program or foreign-trained equivalent accepted by Indiana PLA.
• Current license in the State of Indiana.
• ASHA CCC or eligibility for the certificate.
• BLS certification through the AHA.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department depending on patient care policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment.
• Designs and implements treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing.
• Performs direct patient care and supervises support personnel and students.

Location:

Riley Hospital – Acute Care Rehab

Shift:

8am-4:30pm M-F; however, also weekend requirements. Weekend requirements: 6-7 weekend days every 6 months and one holiday a year.

Requirements:

• Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
• Requires current license in the State of Indiana.
• Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment. After administering the appropriate tests and measures, a treatment plan is designed for improved communication and swallowing. Performs direct patient care services including the supervision of support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.
