Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for Riley Hospital – Acute Care Rehab. The role involves diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning and direct patient care, with weekend requirements and a Monday–Friday day shift.

Responsibilities include supervising support staff and students, contributing to patient care, education and department operations while maintaining licensure and ASHA certification requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current license in the State of Indiana.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or eligibility for this certificate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
• Advanced life support may be required per unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Perform speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine impairment level.
• Design and implement treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing.
• Provide direct patient care and supervise support personnel and students.
• Participate in activities supporting patient care, education and department operations.

Location: Riley Hospital – Acute Care Rehab
Shift: 8am-4:30pm M-F; however, also weekend requirements. Weekend requirements: 6-7 weekend days every 6 months and one holiday a year.

Requirements

• Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited academic program in speech pathology; or, if foreign trained, graduation from a speech pathology education program outside the US with educationally equivalent coursework accepted by Indiana PLA.
• Requires current license in the State of Indiana.
• Requires a certificate of clinical competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for this certificate.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Roles And Responsibilities

Performs speech pathology services including diagnostic evaluations to determine level of impairment. After administering the appropriate tests and measures, a treatment plan is designed for improved communication and swallowing. Performs direct patient care services including the supervision of support personnel and students. Willingly participates in related activities in support of patient care, education and department operations.
