Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for the West Hospital to diagnose and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders across all ages. The role involves comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and collaboration with the healthcare team to improve patient communication and swallowing outcomes.

Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, creating discharge plans, educating families, and tailoring therapy programs to each patient’s needs.

Qualifications

  • Applies age-specific standards, procedures, and guidelines for pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • Uses basic computer skills for data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Analyzes patient condition, progress, and capabilities to guide therapy.
  • Effectively communicates with coworkers, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Works well with all levels of patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking in clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Assess referrals, patient conditions, and medical histories to determine therapy needs.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop discharge plans based on assessments.
  • Administer prescribed speech-language pathology treatments tailored to patient needs.
  • Design rehabilitative programs for language, swallowing, cognition, and related areas.
  • Educate patients and families on procedures for continuation at home.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and participate in care conferences.
