Job summary

WAVERLYHILLS is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients, communicate with families and the health team, and document services in medical records. The role includes supervising SLP Assistants and training facility staff.

Responsibilities encompass timely patient evaluation, developing treatment plans, discharging planning, and complying with state practice acts and payer requirements. Strong communication and clinical preceptorship duties are included.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an SLP by the state in which services are provided.
• Completion of 350 clock hours of supervised practicum.
• At least 9 months of supervised SLP services after master’s/doctoral degree.
• Passed a national SLP examination approved by the HHS.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients within 24 hours or 1 business day of referral.
• Develop treatment plans and obtain physician approval.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
• Supervise SLP Assistants in direct patient care and related activities.
• Communicate patient progress with supervisor and health team.
• Attend care conferences and staff training sessions as needed.
• Record evaluations and treatment notes in medical records.
• Instruct families and nursing staff for discharge planning.
• Participate in discharge planning and preceptorship activities.
• Comply with state practice acts and facility policies.
