Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist (ASHA-certified) to deliver comprehensive clinical services for adults and children, including evaluation, therapy, and follow-up care. You will mentor fellows and collaborate with families and HFHS staff.

You will participate in education, program development, and research initiatives, while supporting day-to-day clinical duties and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program.
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination.
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical speech-language pathology services to HFHS patients, collaborating with patients, families, and HFHS staff.
• Diagnose speech, language, or swallowing disorders and evaluate patient conditions and prognosis.
• Create customized treatment and therapy programs tailored to each patient’s needs.
• Schedule and conduct meaningful patient follow-up visits to track progress.
• Operate clinical equipment to capture and measure speech production characteristics.
• Perform endoscopic assessments of vocal fold vibratory function and swallowing capabilities.
• Partner with dietary personnel to develop nutritional menus and eating programs for swallowing limitations.
• Recommend and teach patients to use communication technology after cancer or laryngeal surgery.
• Engage in departmental education and research initiatives, including program development and fellow orientation.
• Mentor departmental graduate students and clinical fellows, manage schedules and conduct reviews.
• Represent HFHS at conferences and community events.
