Job summary

Mercy Health in Ohio seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. You will evaluate patients, establish treatment plans, and coordinate with physicians and families for home care, while supporting education for students and interns.

Qualifications

• Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of practice.
• CCC-SLP certification preferred; must be obtained within one year.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; required within 30 days at Mercy Health.
• 2 years of experience in a comparable setting (preferred).
• Ability to care for pediatric and adult patients across settings.

Responsibilities

• Review referral, patient condition, and medical history to determine therapy needs.
• Evaluate and document patient assessment and discharge plans.
• Deliver medically prescribed speech-language pathology treatments.
• Develop rehab programs per physician prescription and evaluation data.
• Instruct patient and family in home treatment procedures.
• Modify goals and plans; communicate with the treatment team.
• Motivate and assist patients in performing speech activities.
• Manage patient cases and coordinate care with the team.
• Precept CFY students and supervise trainees.
• Orient and direct work of CFY aides, students, and volunteers.
• Attend meetings and provide staff in-services.
