Responsibilities

Administers speech, language, cognitive evaluations and examinations to assess impairment.
Evaluates test results and medical information to determine impairment and treatment.
Counsels patients on communication disorders and coping strategies.
Provides ongoing education to patients, families and carers to facilitate communication.
Assists patients in developing and recovering communication and swallowing skills.
Conducts in-service training programs for rehabilitation staff.
Records and maintains reports of treatments.
Implements group therapy programs for patients and families.
Participates in conferences to update knowledge on treatment methods.
