Job summary

Mount Sinai Queens is seeking a per diem Speech Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive, and dysphagia needs in the rehab setting. The role involves delivering assessments, planning interventions, and educating patients and families to improve communication and swallowing skills.

The incumbent will participate in group therapy, contribute to staff training, and maintain detailed treatment records while collaborating with the multidisciplinary rehab

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• 1 year of speech-language pathology experience.
• CCC-SLP certification and NYS licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Administer speech, language and cognitive evaluations to determine impairment.
• Evaluate test results and determine speech impairment and treatment plan.
• Counsel and instruct patients on communication disorders and coping strategies.
• Provide counseling and education to patients, families and caregivers to facilitate communication.
• Assist patients in developing reliable communication and swallowing skills for educational, vocational and social roles.
• Conduct in-service training programs for rehabilitation staff.
• Record and maintain reports of treatments.
• Develop and implement group therapy programs for patients and families.
• Participate in conferences or training to stay current on treatment methods.
• Perform other related duties.
