Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission in Texas is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist at the Mexia State Supported Living Center. The role focuses on assessment, diagnosis and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in a facility serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The position emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, development of care plans, and advancement of therapeutic strategies to improve quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, diagnoses and analyzes individuals’ speech, language and cognitive-communication skills.
• Performs routine hearing screens and refers as needed per local protocols.
• Develops, implements and oversees therapeutic habilitative and rehabilitative programs for each individual.
• Collaborates with IDTs including radiologists, OT/PT, dieticians to develop treatment plans.
• Monitors progress and submits data for budgets and therapy supplies.
