Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) required.
• Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification required.
• Successful completion of a training program for teacher assistants or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to meet job goals.
• Willingness to follow verbal and written instructions; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain neat, orderly classrooms and prepare spaces per student needs.
• Aid in inventory, equipment care, and maintenance.
• Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Assist substitutes and support students with disabilities as needed.
• Support students with personal care and mobility needs.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Supervise students during the day and manage safety and behavior as required.
• Ensure confidentiality and adapt to changing classroom requirements.
• Attend to routine tasks and duties and maintain punctual attendance.
