Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking a SPED Unit Teacher Assistant for EC-5 to support instructional planning and classroom activities. You will help with materials, displays, and student supervision while assisting teachers with records and routines.

Responsibilities include aiding students with disabilities, assisting with personal care, and supporting behavior management in a dynamic school environment. Regular attendance and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Accredited high school diploma or USA equivalency.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board.
• Associate degree or 48 college credit hours preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and adapt space to student needs.
• Assist with inventory, equipment care and maintenance.
• Support teacher with administrative records and reports.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transfers.
• Help with personal care and daily living tasks as needed.
• Assist with curriculum and instructional activities.
• Help manage behavior and intervene in crises when required.
• Attend staff training, meetings, and events as scheduled.
• Maintain confidentiality and support a safe learning environment.
• Ensure regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
