Job summary

International Leadership of Texas – Richmond campus is seeking an experienced SPED leader to coordinate campus Special Education services and act as a point person for the department. You will guide teachers and staff to implement IEPs, ARD processes, and evidence-based practices to support students with disabilities.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration with parents and educators, and deep knowledge of Texas SPED regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Master’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education required
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for grades K-8
  • Five years of teaching experience in Special Education
  • Department Head or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
  • Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and plan appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
  • Present subject matter effectively and per IEP guidelines using varied media and technology.
  • Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula for special education students.
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
  • Sponsor outside activities approved by campus principal.
  • Establish open communication by conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain records and comply with regulations and policies for SPED teachers.
