Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District is seeking a Paraprofessional (SPED) Self-Contained at Hillside Middle School in Salt Lake City, UT. The role provides one-on-one support and assists in classrooms under a SPED teacher's supervision.

This part-time, non-contract position requires strong English communication, basic math skills, and experience with office equipment. Starting wage is $20 per hour, with a 0.7375 FTE (~29.5 hours/week).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• ESSA Highly Qualified: 2 years of college or an associate degree or a passing Parapro Assessment (460+).
• Official transcripts or college diploma must be provided with your application or on contingent offer.
• CPR & First Aid within 2 months of hire.
• Complete Safety Care Training.
• Attend Annual Health Services Training.
• Strong English communication, grammar and punctuation.
• Basic math skills: fractions, percentages, ratios.
• Experience with standard office equipment and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise students in general education classes under SPED teacher guidance.
• Support students with IEP goals and behavioral plans; implement classroom interventions.
• Collect data for Medicaid documentation and assist with record-keeping.
• Help students get safely on and off the bus in the AM/PM.
• Provide 1:1 or small-group instruction as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with the teaching team.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
