Job summary

Salt Lake City School District Horizonte Instruction Center in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a part-time Student Support Assistant (SPED) to assist Special Education teachers with one-on-one student support and IEP-related activities. The role includes health-related procedures, basic caregiving, and clerical tasks to support instruction.

The position is non-contract, 0.7375 FTE (up to 29.5 hours per week), with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities, child development, classroom management, and lesson planning.
• Hold or obtain First Aid Certificate.
• Complete Safety Care Training.
• Attend Annual Health Services Training.

Responsibilities

• Assist SPED students with objectives related to personal care independence.
• Provide one-on-one support and monitor student progress toward IEP goals.
• Perform record-keeping and clerical tasks to support teachers.
• Prepare written materials and communicate effectively with staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support student health procedures and assist with mobility and daily living activities.
