Job summary

Columbia Elementary School in DeKalb County is looking for a SPED Paraprofessional to support students with educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. This role works under a certified teacher to promote high academic expectations and effective learning.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, health-related needs, small group instruction, classroom management, and data collection while maintaining FERPA confidentiality and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• An associate degree or higher from a Georgia PSC-approved college or university.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours with GPA 2.0+ from a PSC-approved college or university.
• Valid PSC-approved paraprofessional certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with physical and personal care needs as outlined in IEPs.
• Provide small groups or individualized instruction per lesson plans.
• Monitor students before/after school and during non-instructional times.
• Assist with classroom management to ensure an effective learning environment.
• Assist with student assessments and data collection.
• Implement accommodations/modifications per IEPs.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records under FERPA.
